What is MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet?

The MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet is a programme that focuses on supporting schools, communities in need, charities, environment, wildlife and many other great causes - raising over R7 million a month. Through shopping at one of our 1500 partners nationwide and swiping your card, you can help support 7500 schools, charities and organizations.

How does it work?

Giving couldn’t be easier. Simply get your free MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card, choose up to three beneficiaries (schools and charities) you’d like to raise funds for and shop at one of our partners. Every time you swipe your card, you will be giving back.

How do I get a card?

Get your MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card in one of four ways by:

  • Downloading our free app
  • Applying online
  • Calling Client Services on 0860 100 445
  • Visiting a Woolworths store

Do you have to be a South Africa citizen to own a MySchool card?

No, you can also be a passport holder.

I already have a Woolworths card. How do I make sure this card is giving back?

Simply link your Woolworths card to your preferred school or charity. Every time you use your Woolies card, a percentage will be given back. Just remember that you won’t be able to use your Woolies card at other partner stores.

How do I activate my MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet card for the Discovery Vitality Healthy food benefits?

The first step is to update your details on the MySchool website. Once your details are updated, call Woolworths Customer service on 0861 502 050 to activate your card for Healthy Food benefits.

My card has been stolen or is lost. How do I get a new one?

Call Customer Services on 0860 100 445 or send us an email. Please include your name and surname, your chosen beneficiaries and your current postal address.

How am I able to view my transactions?

View the list of your previous period’s transactions. (Please remember that we work about one month in arrears).

Which schools and charities can I support?

We already have over 7500 schools and charities registered on our programme, with new beneficiaries added every week. You can choose to support a SCHOOL (a registered place of education) and/or a VILLAGE (an organisation that cares for people and communities) and/or a PLANET (an organisation that cares for our environment and animals). You can choose up to three schools or charities, from our list of registered beneficiaries

Is it possible to support more than one beneficiary?

Yes. You can support up to three beneficiaries, and all funds are split equally.

Change or add a beneficiary.

How do I change my beneficiary online?

Click here to go online and update your profile or change your beneficiary. You can also contact us via email or phone.

Do I need a new card if my child’s school is changing?

No. You can keep swiping your original card, but you may want to update your list of beneficiaries. Simply update your chosen beneficiaries online, or contact us via email or phone.

What percentages are paid to the school/charity?

Our business partners donate different percentages that range between 0.25% and 5% of the purchase value.

How does a school or charity join the programme?

Any school or registered charity may apply to become a beneficiary. Read more about the registration process, which includes a thorough review and approval before joining the programme.

I want to raise funds for worthy/under-resourced/needy schools and charities. What do you recommend?

We’ve created the Thuso Fund, which supports under-resourced schools and charities all over South Africa. By choosing Thuso Fund as your beneficiary, you’ll be able to make a direct contribution to schools and charities that need it most. All funds raised for these beneficiaries are administered by MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, in accordance with our Corporate Social Investment policy. View more information on Thuso Fund.

What is the MyPlanet Rhino Fund?

Get actively involved and raise funds on a sustainable basis through The Rhino Fund – to help best practice initiatives in rhino conservation. Where can I swipe my card?

National retail partners include Woolworths, Engen QuickShops and loot.co.za. MySchool cards can be used at many other retailers that support the programme on a regional and local level, with over 1 500 locations nationwide. Remember to look out for the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet sign at pay points of local and regional business partners. Find partners in your area.

How do I link my Woolies and MySchool cards?

Why couldn't I swipe my card at Engen when purchasing petrol?

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet cards can be used at participating Engen QuickShop and all Foodstops, but unfortunately this excludes petrol and diesel purchases.
