Water stewardship within our communities

In 2018, the Woolies Water Fund was established, in partnership with MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, with an aim to transform communities and schools by improving access to safe water and sanitisation, ensuring the conservation of this valuable resource and enhancing healthier and more sustainable livelihoods. These actions showcased our commitment to Inclusive Justice through impactful change.

Our collaborative efforts have resulted in the donation of water systems, installation of water storage tanks, and the creation of handwashing stations at numerous schools, bringing about positive change for students and communities.

Water Systems Worth 9.2 Million Rand

Since the inception of our partnership in 2018, we have invested a substantial amount, totalling R9.2 million, in providing schools with reliable water systems.

126 Schools Equipped with Water Storage Tanks

Recognizing the importance of water storage, the initiative has successfully installed water storage tanks at 126 schools. These tanks play a crucial role in storing and conserving water, ensuring a sustainable water supply for various school activities and promoting water resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

800+ Handwashing Stations Built

Hygiene is paramount, especially in educational settings. The collaboration between the Woolies Water Fund and MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has led to the construction of over 800 handwashing stations in schools. This initiative not only promotes cleanliness but also instils valuable hygiene habits in students, contributing to their overall well-being.

1.3 Million Litres of Water Stored for Schools

The impact of our efforts is longlasting with an impressive 1.3 million litres of water stored for use at schools. This stored water serves as a buffer during times of scarcity and ensures a consistent supply for essential school functions, creating a conducive learning environment.

238 Rainwater Storage Tanks Donated

Recognizing the importance of harnessing natural resources, the initiative has generously donated 238 rainwater storage tanks to schools. These tanks enable schools to collect and store rainwater, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly water source that aligns with the principles of environmental responsibility.
