Terms & Conditions Supporters: Woolworths and MySchool Teacher’s Day Competition
Detailed Terms and Conditions 2019
By participating in the Woolworths and MySchool Teacher’s Day Competition you accept the
following terms and conditions.
1. The Woolworths and MySchool “Teachers Day” competition (“Competition”) is open to all primary and high school learners (“the Participants”) in South Africa.
2. The Competition commences on 5 July 2019 2019 and closes on 16 august 2019 (“the competition period”).Participants stand the chance to win a share of the prizes worth over R400, 000. 00 (four hundred thousand rands).
3. To enter, learners must write a letter of 200 words, nominating their teacher for the Woolworths and MySchool competition. Entries must be received via email, online, fax or post on or before the closing date of the 16th August 2019 to be considered.
Winner Selection Prizes:
Eight winners (2 per category) will be chosen from the categories below to go into the final round of the competition where national winners will be chosen and crowned at a gala event.
Categories
Foundation Phase (Grade R -3)
8 regional winners
Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 – 6)
Junior High x2 (Grade 7 – 10)
Senior High x2 (Grade 11 – 12)
Top 8 regional nominated teachers will each receive R10 000 (Ten thousand rand) in cash, paid into their nominated account, for making it through the first round (t’s & c’s apply).
2.1 Grand prize winner: Teacher :
2.1.1 The first prizeR30 000 (Thirty thousand rand))
2.1.2 The second prize is R20 000 (Twenty thousand rand)
2.1.3 The third prize is R10 000 (Ten thousand rand)
2.2 Our top 8 (eight) teachers and their partners will be treated to an all-expenses paid weekend away (accommodation, meals and any planned activities).
2.3 Please note accommodation is strictly per person sharing (room sharing with partner). No single rooms.
4. Learner Prizes:
3.1 4 (four) Primary Learners will each win a R5000 (five thousand rand)
3.1.1 Please note that the R5000 prize money will not be paid to the learner, parents or guardians of the learner,
3.1.2 The money will go towards the learners school fees for this current year (2019)
3.1.3 Should the learner’s school fees be up to date for the current year (2019) or the learner attends a no fees paying school, the learner and parents of the learner
will provide a list of their educational needs i.e. stationery, uniform etc. and these
will be provided for to the value of the prize money.
3.2 4 (four) High School Learners will each win a R5000
3.2.1 Please note that the R5000 prize money will not be paid to the learner, parents or
guardians of the learner,
3.2.2 The money will go towards the learners school fees for this current year (2019)
3.2.3 Should the learner’s school fees be up to date for the current year (2019) or the learner attends a no fees paying school, the learner and parents of the learner will provide a list of their educational needs i.e. stationery, uniform etc. and these will be provided for to the value of the prize money
4. School Prizes:
a. 8 (eight) schools 1 (one) school category, stand a chance to win a R10 000 (ten thousand rand) cash prize.
b. The categories are defined as follows :

5. To qualify to win the prizes, Participants must write an inspirational letter with appropriate reasons and motivation for nominating a particular teacher. The letter can be submitted in one of the following ways:
a. Email: mtd@woolworths.co.za (file size limit 5MG)

c. Fax: 021 447 6480; and
d. Post: Teacher Competition Matriarch Collingwood Place, Unit 1-2, Corner of Anson and Collingwood Roads, Observatory 7935
6. Each entry must nominate one teacher. Multiple teacher nominations in one entry will not be considered.
7. Multiple entries are not permitted and the prize is limited to one per winner.
8. Entry letters received will not be sent back to the entrants and/or winners.
9. The winners will be selected by a panel of independent judges. The selection process will also be supervised by an external attorney or auditor.
10. The winning teachers will be selected in the following manner:
a. 8 (eight) teachers, 2(two) from each category will be shortlisted; they will be contacted telephonically no later than 13th September 2019. The shortlisted teachers will be invited to attend a judging session with a panel of judges and the external attorney and / or auditor, before the Award ceremony (“the ceremony”) in Gauteng, the exact dates will be disclosed by Woolworths in due course. The overall winner and runners up will be announced at the ceremony which will be held on the 27th September 2019 in Gauteng. Venue to be confirmed.
b. The national winner will be announced no later than the 8th October 2019.
11. The prizes are not transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
12. The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.
13. The winners may be photographed and/ or requested to provide their names for publicity purposes. The winning entries will be announced on www.woolworths.co.za and www.myschool.co.za; Woolworths and MySchool Facebook and Instagram accounts, Woolworths will also send a confirmatory letter to the school principals of the winners.
14. In the event that any winner cannot be successfully contacted following all reasonable attempts to do so, Woolworths reserves the right to disqualify the winner from the Competition and to nominate another winner in his or her stead.
15. This Competition is not open to Woolworth’s employees and their family members, including the employees and family members of the Woolworths advertising and competition agencies and distributors. This Competition shall not be open to directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants of Woolworths (Pty) Ltd, Woolworths Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, Country Road Ventures (Pty) Ltd, Virtual Market Place (Pty) Ltd and any of their holding, subsidiary or associated companies, their marketing service providers in respect of this promotional competition and the family members of such directors, members, partners, employees, agent or consultants.
16. This Competition is not open to any person who has won a MySchool Teacher’s Day Competition in the preceding 5 (two) years.
17. The winner shall be disqualified from the Competition in the event that any of his/her accounts with Woolworths is in arrears or, in the opinion of Woolworths, not in general good order and standing at the time of the prize draw.
18. By participating in this Competition, the winner agrees to indemnify Woolworths and release and hold Woolworths harmless against any and all losses, damages, right, claims and actions of any kind in connection with this competition or resulting from acceptance and participation in the Competition including, without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage claims based on defamation or invasion of privacy.
19. Woolworths collects and uses personal information about entrants to allow them enter competitions, comply with audit requirements in terms of the Consumer Protection Act and to determine the winner for the competitions. Woolworths may use the winner’s name and/or images in marketing material but winners will always be informed of this beforehand and will be given an opportunity to refuse to permit any use of their names and/or their images. 20. Any reference to Woolworths in these terms and conditions shall be deemed to include reference to Woolworths (Pty) Ltd, Woolworths Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, Virtual Market Place (Pty) Ltd and any of their holding, associated, affiliated companies and subsidiaries
