TOWARDS SCHOOL FEES

For our 2023 Back to School campaign, we wanted to give the children of Christel House SA, a non-profit school and beneficiary of MySchool, the opportunity to be part of it. Taking our cameras to their school and shooting them in one of their classrooms was not only an extremely fun experience for them, but also a heart-warming one for us. We thank these incredible young children, for showing up, and for being their courageous and talented selves.

Christel House South Africa is a non-profit, no-fee school with a single mission: to break the cycle of poverty. Established in 2001, Christel House offers scholarships to students from some of Cape Town’s most under-resourced neighbourhoods and supports them for 19 years (Grade RR to Grade 12 and five years post matric) through character-based and career-focused education. The main criteria for entry into the school is a maximum average income of R1,500 per household member per month. The school’s beneficiaries include 800+ students from grade RR to 12, 250+ post-matric students, and more than 10,000 parents and other members of the communities it serves. The school’s top-quality education program is bolstered by vital poverty mitigation services including professional health care, nutritious meals, psychosocial counselling, family assistance and career planning and support. In doing so, they transform the lives of its students and help to build self-sufficient, contributing members of society.
