It has been proven that music enhances academic excellence, creativity and learning; and is the very reason why Garlandale Primary School in Cape Town decided to offer music as an extra-curricular subject to their learners for the first time in over decade i.e. drums, bass guitar, acoustic guitar and piano (practical and theory) training – but their resources were limited. We decided to support this school’s efforts with a R20 000 donation to purchase musical instruments.

Every month we share just how MySchool funds are making a difference.
In this special edition of our Community News, we will be sharing how we have been giving back, with your help, to even more to worthy schools and charities thanks to Supporters who swipe their cards in aid of the MySchool Thuso Funds. We have created these Funds to allow people to support schools and charities in great need. The respective Funds are administered by MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and we ensure that funds are allocated to deserving schools and charitable organisations on an ad hoc basis.
I am sure you have all heard the saying: ‘Wouldn’t it be great when all schools had the money they needed and the army had to have a cake sale to raise money to purchase their tanks’.
The revenue that is generated from fundraisers provides many schools with sorely needed resources for their students and teachers. These days, almost all schools raise funds to pay for classroom equipment and supplies or paying for additional teachers. There is no magic recipe to create funds. It is always a struggle but with enthusiasm and commitment fundraising can be very successful!
