When SANCCOB’s emergency call went out, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet stepped up to support its worthy rescue mission.
The relief response came after hundreds of endangered Cape cormorant chicks were abandoned, most likely due to a lack of food, and had to be rescued from Robben Island. This is the second largest seabird rescue in the Western Cape since the MV Treasure oil spill in 2000 —prompting an all-hands-on-deck alert at the SANCCOB Seabird hospital based in Table View, Cape Town.
These kinds of relief missions align perfectly with the loyalty programme’s MyPlanet mission, which includes a focus on wildlife conservation, the environment and animal welfare.
