MySchool funds are making a difference in the Elarduspark community. Here is a feedback story from a local school on how they are using their funds:
"At Laerskool Elarduspark we have identified the need to provide food for a number of learners who come from disadvantaged families or who lives with relatives.

Some of our learners come to school hungry and it is not conducive to a learning environment to have a hungry child in a class!

With the help of the money from MySchool and of anonymous sponsors we have started a feeding scheme on a daily basis to these learners who experience difficulty in accessing food. We view this as a short-term intervention designed to meet an immediate crisis: hunger.

Once a family is on the feeding scheme, we intend working with work with them to find a longer-term solution to meet their needs. This solution could be to help them access a social grant or to start an income generation project such as to build a vegetable garden from which they can grow food and sell the surplus to make an income.

Learners are often shy to express their need for food but the organiser of the project Mrs Nelia Cronje has however encouraged learners to overcome their shyness over time. This has resulted in an open and caring attitude between learners and staff at the school.  A mutual trust has been build and happy learners are the result."
