With a hop on hop off bus service and great volunteering opportunities, giving a helping hand has never been easier, thanks to Better SA and MySchool.

Making it as easy as possible for South Africans to volunteer their time and skill, MySchool and Better SA have teamed up to drive a very special initiative.  Described by SA media as ‘The Uber of volunteering’, Better SAs Hop on Hop off bus service takes the hassle out of volunteering.  Free of charge and fully facilitated, volunteers are able to make the biggest impact in the time they have available.

The sponsorship of a MySchool Volunteer Bus will allow 680 supporters to help change lives from needy communities in Soweto, Alexandra and Thembisa to name a few. The only requirement from the volunteer is that they book a spot on our bus, arrive and hop on. Better SA does the rest.

How Do I Volunteer?

To volunteer, log onto, choose from our upcoming calendar of MySchool events and then complete the booking form. Then simply arrive at one of our bus hubs and hop on.

The Hop on Hop off volunteer bus service runs every Saturday morning, between 8am and 12pm from the following hubs:

· From Illovo heading into Alexandra and surrounds

· From Broadacres heading into Diepsloot

· From Roodepoort heading into Soweto

· From Midrand heading into Olievenhoutbosch

When you arrive at our hubs, you’ll be greeted by Better SA team leaders who will brief you on the community, the organisation being visited and the volunteer activity. Once you get there, you’ll be given a step by step guide on how to complete the activity and all the supplies needed. Volunteers spend 90 minutes at the organisation before boarding the bus and heading back to their cars. It simply doesn’t get easier than that.

Volunteer activities include: teaching computer skills, playing educational games, typing up hand written CVs for the unemployed, visiting the elderly, painting inspirational murals, environmental clean ups, making sleeping bags for the homeless and so much more.
