This year, to honour International White Cane Safety Day (which has been celebrated on 15 October annually since 1964), the South African National Council for the Blind held a fun-walk to highlight the needs, achievements and independence of the blind and visually impaired. MyVillage was also involved: committing to sponsor R100 per person that participates. 167 people participated in the fun walk, going through central Pretoria.

Their participation secured a R16 700 donation from MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet in support of the cause. Walkers were also encouraged to sign up for a card n benefit of SANCB. Monies collected will go towards subsidising assistive devices for persons with visual impairments.

The Fun Walk did not only raise awareness for visually impaired road users and of visually impaired persons, but it helped the South African Council for the Blind to raise valuable funds. Visually impaired people walked with their guide dogs, some with mobility canes, sighted people wore blind folds.

In assisting with the Fun Walk, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet donated 30 T Shirts which were used as prizes for the 1st 30 finishers.
