What can the Free State do about climate change? This was the challenge set at Bloemfontein’ first ever Green Fest which took place at the Windmill Casino during November 2010.



The festival is a project that aims to give the local community access to information, services, products and experts that will allow them to make practical and sustainable changes in their daily lives, in support of the environment. Factors such as increasing energy costs and diminishing natural resources such as water will force people to start living greener lives.

MyPlanet was a proud sponsor and exhibitor at the event, sponsoring the MyPlanet Recycled Toy competition. The competition encouraged learners to reinvent items that were heading for the rubbish bin, and give them new life in a form of a toy.

How can your business become greener?
1. Use energy saving light bulbs
2. switch off machines at the office over weekends
3. travel less for business: Use the telephone, Skype and other tools rather than flying
4. Scan documents and store them electronically
5. Print on both sides of the page when needed
6. Catch rainwater for use on office plants
