Thohoyandou Primary School profileThrough teacher resources and fast track classroom changes, MySchool is helping Thohoyandou Primary School to boost Maths and Literacy performance.

With under performance in Maths and Literacy, Thohoyandou Primary School’s partnership with MySchool is helping turn things around, and open a world of possibility for its children.

The school is a no-fee Venda-speaking school in Pretoria, and is one of 66 Gauteng ‘under-performing’ schools, where most learners come from poor socio-economic areas and home circumstances are less than ideal.  With 657 learners and 17 teachers, including the principal and deputy principal, classes are large and classrooms are old and worn out.

The partnership, between Principal Gabriel Ramano and the school’s dedicated partner Ilna Stroh, is focused on the creation of possibilities for kids, classroom renovations and addressing under performance in Maths and Literacy. Through sponsoring Brain Boosters initiative, MySchool is helping to fast track practical changes in the classroom by providing teachers with reusable resources. The results so far are increased staff and learner motivation, and the effective transfer of valuable skills through its practical ‘train the trainer’ approach.
