Pharrell Williams SingWithUs

Congratulations to our 1st Place Winner, Colin MannPrimary.

They’ve won the grand prize of R100 000 for their school and will be performing with Pharrell on stage at the private concert in September. Well done to our 2nd Place Winner, Durban Girls’ High School and 3rd Place Winner, Zwaanswyk High School. Thank you to everyone who entered – the entries were phenomenal!

1ST PLACE WINNER: COLIN MANN PRIMARY

What are they doing with the prize money?
The R100 000 prize money will go towards the renovation of the school hall to improve the sound and production equipment. In this way each and every learner at the school will benefit from the prize money.

Why did they choose their winning entry song?
The inspirational song chosen was around the issue anti-bullying and the song chosen, “Just the way you are” seemed to be a great choice to let all the children know that no matter how different you may be, each and everyone is special in their own way.

2ND PLACE WINNER: DURBAN GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL

What are they doing with the prize money?
The R50 000 prize money will go towards building a new multi-purpose centre and new uniforms for the choir. The multi-purpose centre will be used for performances and choral evenings.

Why did they choose their winning entry song?
The inspirational song chosen was ‘Dear Future Husband’ because it is entertaining and funny, but also actually has a serious underlying message about the value of woman and how they need to be respected and treated well by the men in their lives.

3RD PLACE: ZWAANSWYK HIGH SCHOOL

What are they doing with the prize money?
The R25 000 prize money will go towards renovating the school hall, upgrading equipment and purchasing a new school bus.

Why did they choose their winning entry song?
The inspirational song chosen represented their strength as a group....and the song 'roar' by Katy Perry really has a lot of personal symbolism to rise above circumstances and choosing to be strong.
