Almost a year after its launch in Johannesburg, during which 620 volunteers to boarded the bus, giving nearly 1 550 hours of their time, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet  and Better SA have announced that they are bringing the ‘Uber of volunteering’ to the Mother City.

Every festive season, Woolworths and MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet embark on a special drive to raise funds in order to make a meaningful life-long impact on children in need.  

Launched last year, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet’s Dream2Teach Scholarship Fund, has now awarded its first scholarships to Ronel Tsoute from Luckhoff in the Free State and Timone Daniel from Vredendal in the Western Cape.  

South Africa’s biggest and most established community loyalty programme, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. 

When you were a child, what was your dream for when you were “big”? Was it to be an astronaut? A baker? A doctor, or a famous footballer, maybe? Whatever it was and whatever you’ve done so far, just imagine if you hadn’t been able to read!

South African conservation organisations and bodies have long been at the forefront of protecting Africa’s iconic White and Black Rhinos.  The escalation of rhino poaching in the country, a rise of 9000% between 2007 and 2014*, raises the image of a continent brutally robbed of key wildlife species.

Teaching is often described as ‘a calling’ because the teachers that have the biggest impact are the ones with a genuine passion and a special aptitude for helping children learn and develop. 

It is estimated that around 3 million South African school children do not have a desk to work at in their classrooms. 

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, one of the country’s largest fundraising programmes has announced a new partnership with Johannesburg-based non-profit organisation (NPO) Better SA.  

The much-needed renovation of West Ridge High School’s Brick-Making Workshop has been made possible by a donation from the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet’s Thuso Fund.
