Play Gym donated to orphans at Noah’s Vosloorus Ark

Smiles of delight covered the faces of the over 120 orphans who stay at NOAH’s Vosloorus Ark on Friday 11 June 2010.

Thanks to Toys R Us and MySchool they now have a brand new play gym and had a lovely party to celebrate the event.

The R100 000 play gym was donated by Toys R Us, a MySchool partner. It is ideal for the “ark” (as the home is called) as it provides the children with a safe and educational toy that will benefit the home for many years to come.

The ark is home to orphaned, vulnerable and abandoned children from the local community and is dedicated to providing a safe and encouraging home for the youngsters.   

Additional highlights of the day included the celebratory party sponsored by MySchool (including delicious hot dogs and party hampers).

Geoffrey the Giraffe also made an appearance to the delight of the children.

Vosloorus Noah`s Ark is Based at Khulisa Community Centre. It is surrounded by 3 informal settlements called Zama Zama, Peter Mokaba and Thusong where most of the residents are residing in RDP houses, with only one small clinic, no schools and no library or any other recreational facilities in the area.

Currently the ark supports 150 kids on day care and 102 kids on after care.

Many parents send their children to the ark after school hours to ensure they are in a safe and educational environment.
