Northwood’s Media Centre has been renovated, and that has been made possible by the funds raised through the MySchool Programme. The Media Centre has been completed, and offers fresh and exciting opportunities for Northwood’s learners.

  • Along with the exciting innovations the Fiction area has been relocated to an upper level freeing up the main area for a whole lot more books!
  • On the main floor is the Non-Fiction area with over 15 000 books to help learners with projects and to feed personal interests.
  • Pupils are particularly enjoying biographical reading, especially about their favourite sports heroes.
  • The 'Current Affairs' zone is especially popular with all grades making good use of it.
  • The area includes new beanbags for learners to use while they enjoy up-to-date magazines, the Guiness Records, newspapers and a variety of topical and easy reads.
  • Year books from other schools have also proved to be a big hit!

The ‘Career' zone includes relevant study-guides, learning materials and information boards on various career options.
The dedicated teaching area, with audio visual facilities, has also been refurbished and is used as a teaching venue for Media Science.
Alongside it is the Reference section, with study desks and a large variety of reference resources.
A collection of computers assist boys with their internet research.

The Media Centre is now a spacious, user-friendly, well-zoned facility, which is a popular area of Northwood.  Myron Marimuthu a grade 8 learner says he finds the library makeover ’fresh’ while Timothee Ferreira from grade 10 says it's more organised and easier to find what he wants.
